The sensitivity of the movement sensor is good and also the timer turns off the light after twenty five seconds approximately. I'm ordering two more for others parts of the home. I personally use this for the inside of my garage.
It appears to have a great sensor that picks up movement from a good distance.
You may be 20-30 feet away and it can detect your movement. And the batteries continue to be going after six months. Purchase and installed light in April 2011. I have it over my garage pointed inside my work truck and it illuminates the entire driveway around my truck. The merchandise appeared to be top quality. This outdoor track lighting is a great size, the actual light is the size of a quarter and incredibly bright. So, if you mount it close to some other source of light, it might be too bright to allow the patio string lights to turn on. They're far better looking than we had, simple to install, and incredibly afforable in comparison to what you will find in the shops. It is really an under the eve (not wall) installation, and thus far there have been no issues with it.
The motion sensitivity is also far better! I've had this one a few weeks now, and thus far it's working completely.
Additional comment - after about 8 months one or two out of ten lights allowed moisture to accumulate within, and appear to be much less vibrant. I live "in the center of no-where" on the Big Island of Hawaii where you can't see your hand in front of your face during the night occasionally!
One of the patio string lights was unintentionally dropped four feet onto a tile floor I was concerned it can't work, but no harm and it works good. After buying a number of light sensitive switches for my door light to save cash (neither proved helpful only turning the lamp off in the brightest sunshine) I stumbled upon some reviews of the Heath Zenith movement sensing light. Most outdoor flood lights offered are unattractive looking floods, but this one looks fantastic and does the job (this isn't a flood light).
Happy with my purchase and everybody who sees them agrees. I have my light mounted close to my door and pointed straight at the door handle but when my foot hits my front steps the light comes on. I'm very pleased with it. Have two set outside coops and one inside. I believe if I wanted something to last well into the future I would have invested more, but you never know? We installed it on our wood fence, out in the open. Just using as a switched light.
For $21 each they are fantastic, and I might get one or two more. I contemplated purchasing the bigger version of the item, but am pleased with the eight inch version.
I cannot comment on long-term support as I've only had these about a month, but if you prefer the look, and want the function this light has (dual-bright), do it now.

I ordered two patio string lights in April 2011. Didn't even get to test the claim that the batteries in these patio string lights can last a year.
