Fabric Hammocks - Relaxation At Its Finest

Hammocks have come a great distance from the coarse rope ones which irritated and marked your skin. Today many of us need a hammock to truly relax and unwind in and which should act as a complimentary accessory to their outdoor living area. This is why fabric hammocks are so popular. They come up with a way to largely retain the appearance of a traditional hammock while providing exceptional comfort and looking good.

Different kinds

Fabric hammocks come in 3 types: single fabric, duveted and pillowtop.

A single fabric hammock is the least costly of the 3 and is made from specially treated fabric to resist the elements. Since there is only a single layer it is quick-drying and therefore less certain to grow mould and mold. The downside is it is less comfortable than the others.

A quilted hammock has a center of luxurious polyester fibrefill batting between two soft cloth layers which are lockstitched on top. A pillowtop hammock is very similar but has thicker batting and more of a cushioning effect. The previous will cost around $220-$250, while the latter is more expensive at $250-$300.

If you want to use your hammock a lot and even sleep in it, then a quilted or pillowtop one will be your decision as they have the same batting which is used in bed quilts and thus provide exceptional softness and comfort. Quilting also preserves warmth which makes it an exceedingly cosy option in the cool of the evening.

A fabric hammock has ropes at either end for fastening to a stand or tree but the whole base where a person lies comprises fabric. This makes sure that your skin will not suffer with any rope marks; you won't catch your toes and fingers in the holes between the ropes; and the fabric base doesn't coil around you in the same way a rope hammock does. Furthermore, the spreader bars help to keep the fabric spread out so that it doesn't become all bunched up.

Hammock dcor and accessories

There is a good range of colours and patterns to choose from in fabric hammocks so you are sure to find something that matches your taste and existing outdoor living furniture. Some hammocks are sold with built in pillows or else you can buy them to match the fabric. Often a hammock will be sold with a stand but other times you have got to buy it separately which adds to the overall cost. There are several hammock stands available in wood and metal.

Making a good choice

It is very important to think scrupulously about where you plan to place your hammock and how it is going to be used. As an example, is it going to be displayed as a showpiece on your deck; is it to be used by yourself, perhaps in an inside conservatory, or do the whole family like to heap on when enjoying a sunny day in the garden? This can define the type of size, weight capacity and quality of material you want. Not all fabric hammocks are made in the same way and it is critical to check the product outline to find out what weight it can hold and whether or not it is made from weather resistant fabric or is better fitted to indoor use.
