Also known as oxygen permeable contacts, gas permeable contact lenses are a lot easier to take care of then other types of contacts - including soft contact lenses. GP (Gas Permeable) contacts are made from a combination of fluorine and silicone, meaning that they won't attract protein near as much as other types of contacts. If you have had a problem with protein on your lenses in the past, GP contacts will pretty much eliminate that problem.

Take note that just because GP lenses are more convenient to use, it's still required to clean them regularly. Cleaning them can prevent the accumulation of protein and removes any debris that are present. But even though cleaning is still required, it's easier to do it and saves you more time too.

Another reminder is to bring a re-wetting solution with you like saline drops. This is important just in case your lenses get dry. If this scenario occurs, you can use the solution to make the contact lenses moisten again and you can still use it comfortable. Dryness is common and that's why you should always bring re-wetting solutions wherever you go.

Don't forget to clean your GP lenses regularly especially when removing them at night. Remember that a cleansing solution to one kind of lens may be different to another. Knowing this fact, make sure that the solution you're using is appropriate to the kind of contacts you are wearing. Otherwise, this could damage your eyes. Water is a no-no in cleaning contact lenses since it can destroy the materials present in the lenses.

When visiting an optician and you are recommended to wear contact lenses, don't forget to ask about GP lenses. If they are suitable for you, your optician would surely prescribe it. Usually, GP lenses are prescribed for elderly individuals or to those who had previous eye conditions. They are perfect choices for everyday use.

So when looking for lenses that are really dependable, you should opt for GP lenses. The cost of GP lenses is similar to soft lenses. Nonetheless, they are known to have better quality and can survive for a longer period of time.

Once you've tried wearing gas permeable lenses, there's no way that you'll be considering to buy soft contact lenses again.
